About the Role
In the role of Digital Marketing Program Manager, this individual will be focused on AI search and supporting the execution of our Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) strategy. This role will help translate strategic priorities into actionable recommendations that improve how our brand, products, and expertise are represented across AI-powered search and answer platforms, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other emerging AI experiences. Working closely with internal marketing teams and stakeholders across the business this individual will identify opportunities to strengthen AI visibility, optimize digital content, and improve citation quality across owned and earned channels. The ideal candidate combines hands-on expertise in SEO, AEO, content strategy, and digital marketing with a strong understanding of how AI search ecosystems evaluate, surface, and reference content. This role is well-suited for a data-driven marketer who enjoys testing new approaches, monitoring emerging AI search trends, and turning insights into measurable business outcomes.
We are seeking an AI Search Strategist contractor to support the execution of our GEO / AEO strategy. This role will help turn strategic priorities into actionable recommendations across AI citations, SEO, and digital marketing, with a focus on improving how our brand and products appear in AI-powered search and answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, etc. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with SEO/AEO, content optimization, AI search trends, and digital marketing execution. This person will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and an AEO project manager to support implementation, surface opportunities, and help accelerate progress against our AI visibility goals. Experience with Profound or a similar AI search platform is preferred. Hours will start part time (30 hours) with the potential to move to 40 hours per week in the November time frame.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities
•        Analyze AI search performance, citations, and content gaps, translating findings into prioritized optimization recommendations.
•        Partner with content marketing, growth marketers, communications, product marketing, and brand marketing teams to develop and optimize AI-friendly content strategies.
•        Execute GEO and AEO initiatives that improve the organization’s visibility across AI-powered search and answer engines.
•        Monitor AI search trends, algorithm changes, and emerging best practices, recommending adjustments to ongoing optimization efforts.
•        Collaborate with the AEO project manager to track initiatives, prioritize workstreams, and ensure timely execution of strategic objectives.
•        Evaluate brand presence and competitive performance across AI search platforms, identifying opportunities to improve discoverability and authority.
•        Measure key AI search visibility metrics, documenting insights, preparing executive-ready updates, and communicating progress to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
•        3+ years of experience in SEO, content strategy, digital marketing, or a related discipline
•        Demonstrated knowledge of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and evolving AI search ecosystems
•        Experience optimizing content for search engines and AI-powered answer platforms using SEO best practices
•        Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting performance data and translating insights into actionable recommendations
•        Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
•        Experience using SEO and analytics platforms such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Semrush, or similar tools.
•        Experience with Profound or a comparable AI search intelligence platform is preferred
•        Self-starter with strong project management and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
