What is the Radical Sabbatical?

One of the most impactful? Our Radical Sabbatical.
After five years at Gravity, employees are eligible for a fully paid six-week sabbatical—time to recharge, travel, spend time with family, or simply take a well-earned break.
Co-Founders Rick Connolly and Stephen Dettor designed this benefit to be both meaningful and practical. Unlike traditional sabbaticals, ours is fully paid and flexible, so employees can truly enjoy their time off without added stress. Paired with generous PTO and an annual holiday shutdown, the Radical Sabbatical is just one way we invest in our team’s long-term success.

Richard Trawick | Indonesia & Australia
Last year, Richard Trawick, Director of Business Operations for our San Diego Office, celebrated his 6th year at Gravity and took a 2-week sabbatical to travel to Indonesia and Australia with his wife. They spent a relaxing 2 weeks surfing and exploring some of their “Bucket List” travel destinations, all while Richard was still being paid and his team was handling the business operations efficiently.
While the picture says it all, Richard shared that the highlight of his sabbatical was the chance to fully disconnect and be present, confident that his team could manage the business in his absence. We’re excited to see how he makes the most of the rest of his Radical Sabbatical in the future!
Juan Rios | Honeymoon In Europe
Juan Rios recently took a 4-week sabbatical to celebrate his honeymoon with his wife. The couple, who were married in early January, decided to embark on a dream trip to Europe during the summer. Their journey included stops in Zurich, Paris, Disney Paris, Venice, Rome, Klagenfurt, Salzburg, Vienna, Slovenia, and Croatia.
During their travels, Juan and his wife indulged in amazing food, especially pizza, met Mickey Mouse at Disney Paris, drove through the stunning Southern Eastern Alps, attended a music festival in Salzburg, and explored iconic Game of Thrones filming locations in Croatia.
For Juan, exploring Europe had always been a lifelong goal, and the sabbatical gave him the perfect opportunity to make it a reality. Stepping away from work allowed him to experience new adventures every day and celebrate his marriage in a meaningful way with his wife.
While some companies are reducing or eliminating sabbatical programs, we’ve seen firsthand the value of these types of benefits.
