Engaging with our community is at the heart of what we do at Gravity, which is why we launched our monthly LinkedIn polls in 2024. The goal? To foster meaningful conversations with our diverse network of IT professionals—candidates, hiring managers, decision-makers, and industry leaders—and to surface insights that help us all prepare for the future of IT.
Over the past month, these polls have explored critical challenges and trends in the IT world, sparking discussions and shedding light on what’s top of mind for industry professionals in 2025 and beyond. Here’s a quick recap, along with a glimpse into what we have planned for next month.
Insights from January’s LinkedIn Poll Series
Last month, we posted four LinkedIn polls, asking our network to weigh in on key IT challenges for 2025. Here’s what we learned from your input and the data shared.
Poll #1: Most Significant Challenge for IT in 2025
- Cybersecurity threats topped the list with 45% of the votes, emphasizing the growing importance of safeguarding against sophisticated threats.
- Rapid tech advancements followed at 24%, highlighting how quickly innovation in the IT space can push organizations to adapt.
- Budget constraints (18%) and talent shortages (13%) rounded out the list, signaling a mix of financial and workforce-related concerns.
Key takeaway: Protecting data and systems remains a critical focus, but other factors—like keeping up with rapid innovation and managing costs—can’t be overlooked.
Poll #2: Biggest IT Staffing Challenge in 2025
The second poll honed in on staffing challenges, a topic we know resonates with candidates and hiring managers alike. Here’s how 138 participants responded:
- Rising salary demands led the way with 34% of the votes, showing that staying competitive in today’s IT talent market is no small task.
- Finding skilled talent came in second at 25%, followed by retention issues (27%) and upskilling staff (14%).
Key takeaway: Attracting and retaining top talent is a delicate balance of offering competitive compensation and supporting professional growth.
Poll #3: Biggest Data Challenges Facing IT
Data has always been at the core of IT, so we asked, “What’s the biggest data challenge in IT?” Among 140 respondents:
- Data security emerged as the top concern with 61% of votes, aligning with earlier concerns about cybersecurity.
- Data quality/integrity came next at 26%, followed by real-time insights (7%) and scalability issues (6%).
Key takeaway: Uniting high-quality, secure data with actionable insights is crucial as organizations work to thrive in a competitive environment.
Poll #4: Gaps in IT Capabilities for 2025
Finally, the last poll of the month explored gaps in IT capabilities. Here’s how 129 participants ranked the options:
- AI/ML integration dominated with 48% of the votes, reflecting the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the tech landscape.
- Legacy systems (29%) and cloud management (15%) followed, with DevOps expertise (9%) trailing behind.
Key takeaway: The shift toward smarter systems via AI and ML is critical, but modernizing legacy infrastructure and refining cloud strategies are also crucial for success.
Meaningful Conversations and Engagement
These polls weren’t just about numbers; they drove impactful discussions and thoughtful comments from our followers. For instance:
- Several professionals echoed the growing importance of upskilling teams in response to rising AI/ML demands.
- Others shared personal anecdotes about navigating cybersecurity challenges, sparking ideas for collaboration on solutions.
Overall, we saw thousands of impressions and robust interactions across all four polls. These discussions remind us that the Gravity community is vibrant and passionate about shaping IT’s future.
