Data Architect Engineer (AWS)
Food Services Industry | Remote | Contract
About the Role
We are supporting a growing organization in the food services industry that is expanding and modernizing its cloud-based data ecosystem. This role is ideal for a hands-on Data Architect who enjoys both strategic architecture and technical implementation and will partner closely with developers, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
Technical Environment
- AWS including S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL
- Snowflake
- Python development environment
- Angular / TypeScript application stack
- Serverless AWS architecture
- API-driven integrations
Key Responsibilities
- Define, design, build, test, and implement scalable data pipelines.
- Architect AWS-native data solutions including data lakes and reporting platforms.
- Develop data models supporting analytics and reporting.
- Design and develop API integrations.
- Develop and maintain AWS Lambda functions and Glue jobs using Python.
- Troubleshoot data issues and optimize performance.
- Ensure security, governance, privacy, and compliance.
- Maintain architecture documentation.
- Mentor team members and promote best practices.
Required Experience
- 5+ years in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or related fields.
- 3+ years of Python development experience.
- 3+ years building ETL and data pipeline solutions.
- Hands-on AWS experience including Lambda, Glue, S3, Athena, DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong SQL and data modeling experience.
- Serverless architecture experience.
- API integration experience.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
Preferred Experience
- Snowflake experience.
- Experience with dbt and/or Databricks.
- Machine learning or AI analytics exposure.
- Terraform or CloudFormation experience.
- CI/CD for data engineering workflows.
- AWS Certifications.
Logistics
- Work Location: Charlotte, NC preferred. If remote, would need to come onsite once per month for 2 days once converted to full time.
- Contract opportunity with potential to convert to FTE.
