How to be a standout candidate throughout the interview process?
Transitioning from college to the workforce can be overwhelming, but interviews don’t have to be. No matter what industry you’re entering, mastering the interview process can help set you up for success in your career. With our deep industry knowledge and firsthand experience in the hiring process, we wanted to share a few tips that we think will help you stand out!
Interview Tips & Tricks:
1. Be Prepared
You would be surprised how many candidates skip this easy step. Having an understanding of the company and HOW they make money, even if at a surface level will make you stand out. Taking it one step further by researching who works for the company or who you are interviewing with to make common connections is another easy step you can do prior to the interview – to show up and stand out!
2. Ask Questions
An interview is a two-way street, and asking the right questions is just as important as answering them well. Thoughtful questions demonstrate your curiosity, enthusiasm, and critical thinking skills. Engaging in the interviews and not just answering question after question will set you apart through the interview process.
3. Always Follow Up
Always send a thank you email, LinkedIn message or note! A follow-up message is a great opportunity to reaffirm your interest in the role and address anything you might not have had a chance to elaborate on during the interview. Not all candidates take the time to do this step – just another way you can stand out!
